FIX Crepey Skin: What's Working for my Face, Neck, Hands & Body Skin, (even over 60)

Updated: Oct 11, 2025

Crepey skin—the thin, wrinkled texture that shows up on our arms, neck, chest, hands, and legs—can feel sudden and discouraging. And while it’s a natural part of aging, it’s not something we’re stuck with.

In this post, I’m breaking down what’s actually helping me reverse crepey skin—everything I’m doing to support firmer, fuller, more hydrated skin on my face and body.

Why Does Crepey Skin Happen?

Crepey skin happens from collagen and elastin breakdown, hormone loss, sun exposure, and dehydration. It’s more than just a surface issue—and to improve it, you need to support the skin at every layer: hydration, structure, and repair.

There’s no one-product miracle. But steady, layered skincare can absolutely help your skin look less crepey, feel more resilient, and even rebuild strength and volume over time.

My Layered Routine: What’s Working

1. Retinoids (Vitamin A)

Retinoids have made the biggest difference in my skin. They work at the cellular level to support collagen production and speed up skin cell turnover—helping rebuild weakened structure, improve texture, and reduce the signs of sun damage.

I apply retinoids to my face, neck, chest, and the backs of my hands. This is the one topical that I’ve seen make the most visible change. If you want a full intro, I have a video in my ABCs of Skincare series that dives into Vitamin A.

2. Peptides

Peptides act like messengers to stimulate collagen and elastin. They help firm the skin and improve that crinkled texture. I layer peptide serums right after hydrating essences so they absorb deeply and get to work. This combo is gentle but powerful.

3. Hydration (Inside and Out)

Hydration is critical—for every layer of your skin. I use hydrating essences in the morning to plump the skin before applying peptides and moisturizers. This helps ingredients penetrate and perform better.

But internal hydration matters too. I aim to drink 2 liters of water daily—and I boost that with electrolyte mixes to help my cells actually absorb it. Favorites include:

  • City Beauty Nutrition Collagen Boosting Blend

  • Ultima Electrolyte Mixes (they come in lots of flavors and are less salty)

Do whatever makes it easier for you to stay hydrated—because your skin needs it.

4. Ceramide-Rich Moisturizers

Ceramides seal everything in and keep your barrier strong. This is key for reversing crepiness. My favorites include:

  • Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion

  • Clinique Moisture Surge

  • CeraVe SA Lotion

These give my skin that plump, pillowy feel and help it stay moisturized all day.

Topical Estriol (M4 Cream from Alloy Women’s Health)

About three months ago, I added M4 Estriol Cream to my routine—and I’ve seen real change. Estriol is a gentle topical hormone that works differently from oral HRT. It doesn’t absorb systemically and is prescribed by certified menopause doctors through Alloy.

I apply it to my face, neck, chest, and the backs of my hands. I’ve noticed the skin around my eyes is less crepey, and my hands feel thicker and more lifted. The density of my skin is improving, and that’s made a visible difference. I’m now on my second prescription.

If you’re postmenopausal, this may be a missing piece worth exploring. It’s helping restore elasticity, hydration, and volume to estrogen-deprived skin.

InvisiCrepe Body Balm

This is one of my favorite products for crepey skin on my neck and the backs of my hands. I’ve used it for years. When I apply it, I can feel and see a difference.

After 45 days of use on my neck, I took before and after photos—and the results were clear. It helps tighten the look of the skin, softens texture, and just gives me a boost of confidence.

It’s not dramatic, but it’s enough to make me feel better when I look in the mirror.

NIRA Pro Plus Laser

I’m not a device junkie, but the NIRA Pro Plus Laser is one I believe in—and I use it daily.

This FDA-cleared laser gently heats the dermis (the deeper layer of skin) to stimulate collagen and elastin. It’s non-invasive, takes about 10 minutes, and feels like a spa treatment at home.

I use it on:

  • My eyes

  • Forehead

  • Chin

  • Neck

  • Chest

  • Backs of hands

It’s made the most noticeable difference in softening my wrinkles and improving crepey skin—especially under my eyes and on my hands. The company also has amazing customer service and offers a 90-day money-back guarantee.

Body Skin

Recently, I noticed crepey skin developing above my knees and on my thighs. Here’s what I’ve added to address body skin:

  • Gold Bond Retinol Lotion: I apply it right after my bath or shower while my skin is still slightly damp. It works fast—my legs look firmer the next morning.

  • Be mindful of soaps: Harsh bath products can dry you out. I use Dove. And I love adding in the L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil too - its moisturizing application is a luxurious experience.

Final Thoughts

You don’t have to do everything all at once. Pick one thing. Then another. Build slowly. Your skin will respond. If I skip lotion or hydration, the crepey look returns. But when I stay consistent, my skin looks better—and feels better.

The more I stay consistent with retinoids, peptides, hydration, estriol cream, and my NIRA laser—the more I see and feel a difference. It’s not about looking 30 again. It’s about feeling more like me. And I hope this helps you feel more like you, too.
