Have you ever looked in the mirror and thought, “Who is that?"
Maybe you’re in your 50s or 60s and suddenly… everything just feels different.
The weight gain. The brain fog.The low energy. And maybe the hardest part—feeling like you are losing yourself and don't know what to do or where to start to find yourself again.
At 58, that was exactly where I found myself. I felt like I was trying, but no matter what I did, I was slipping further away from the version of myself I remembered—vibrant, clear-headed, full of life. That version felt like a distant memory.
This post is about how I got her back.
And how you can start your own reset too.
Menopausal Weight Gain & The Inability to Lose Weight Over 50
Ten years of failed diets, obsessive tracking, and trying every “healthy” lifestyle trend…and I was still steadily gaining weight.
I was inflamed, discouraged, and afraid of what this meant for the rest of my life.My knees hurt. My feet ached.I had no stamina. And I honestly thought, Maybe this is just what aging feels like.
Advice That Wasn’t Working
For years, the only advice I got was “Eat less. Move more.”
And believe me, I was eating less. I was moving more. But nothing was changing.
At 58, I was gaining weight despite eating healthy and staying active. Ten years of failed diets, restrictive meal plans, and YouTube workouts—and I still couldn’t lose weight or keep it off.
Doctors told me to “keep going.”Nutritionists handed me generic handouts. Even my GYN said, “This just happens to women your age.”
The toll wasn’t just physical—it was emotional. My health was declining. My knees ached. I had no stamina. But I didn’t give up.
I kept searching. I tried everything—calorie tracking, meal kits, specialist visits. And then I found a solution.
The Online Program That Changed EVERYTHING
It was 2021 after the COVID lockdown began to lift - my weight was soaring and my confidence was plummeting. I was online searching for answers 'Weight Loss that Works for Women Over 50' when something new popped into my feed.
I had never seen it before and I immediately clicked on it 'BodySlims Weight Loss | Changing Bodies by Transforming Minds'.. It had never been offered online until COVID, so I thought, I'm going to try this - it may never be offered again once everything resumes . . . It wasn’t a typical diet plan. It was education. It taught me about nutrition, aging, mindset, and habit-building. It helped me take a hard but compassionate look at what I was doing—and not doing. It gave me tools. But more importantly, it gave me ownership.
I learned to show up for myself—no guilt, no excuses. Just one honest day at a time.
What I had struggled with for 10 years was transformed in 10 weeks.
In 70 days, I lost 30 pounds. Not water weight, not yo-yo rebound weight. Real, sustainable change. My body went from fat to lean, and my stamina and physicality were also transformed.
The Nutrition Shift That Changed Everything
While doctors had told me 'Eat Less', no one had ever given me the tools or the information I needed to.
Here is the nutrition shift that changed everything in 70 days:
✅ 3 meals a day, 1200 calories daily
no sugar, no bread, no alcohol
✅ High-protein, high-satiety foods
✅ 90–120 grams of protein to protect muscle
✅ 2 liters of water, every single day
The Physical Activity Shift - Making Movement Work My Way
The BodySlims program requires 1 hour of walking every day. No exceptions.
But at the time, I was in a boot. My knees were shot. There was no way I could walk for an hour.
So I made a simple adaptation: I pulled out a recumbent bike I had bought on Amazon for $350… and never used.
That became my lifeline.I rode every day after work for 70 days—watching shows or YouTube while I pedaled.
There was no friction: No getting dressed for the gym. No worrying about the weather. No excuses.
And you know what made the biggest difference? Consistency.
That one habit—done on hour, every day—became my turning point.
The Mindset Shift
Learning what to do was transformational, but learning how to keep showing up for myself? That was life-changing.
The truth is, I didn’t just need a plan. I needed a mindset reset. Because after years of trying and failing, I wasn’t just tired—I was quietly losing faith in myself. I had stopped trusting that I could follow through. That I could make it to real, lasting change. That I was still capable of becoming the version of me I wanted to be.
But something shifted when I joined BodySlims. It wasn’t just about food or exercise—it was about integrity.
Every single day, I had to choose to show up for No shortcuts. No “starting again Monday.”Just moment-to-moment decisions to do the next right thing. And in those small decisions, I began to rebuild trust with myself.
For the first time in years, I wasn't trying to "be perfect."I was trying to be honest.
Was I showing up fully? Was I doing what I said I would do? Could I be my advocate instead of my obstacle? That’s where the change happened.
I stopped talking myself out of things.I stopped saying “this doesn’t matter” when it did. And instead of looking for ways to cut corners, I focused on keeping promises to myself.
Some days, it was hard. But every time I followed through, I felt stronger. And that quiet consistency turned into momentum.
It gave me back my confidence, not because I had reached some goal, but because I was proving to myself that I still had it in me.
So many of us wait to feel motivated before we start. But I had to start before I felt anything—and let the doing build the belief.
Reclaiming My Vitality—One Reset at a Time
As my body started to change, something else happened.I started recognizing myself again.
Not the younger me.But the real me—the one I hadn’t seen in a long time.More hopeful. More clear-eyed. More aligned. And I wanted the outside to reflect what I was starting to feel on the inside.
So I started investing in myself again.I got curious about skincare—not because of vanity, but because I wanted to feel aligned with myself.
I learned what happens to skin after menopause. How it gets thinner, duller, and more fragile. But also—how it can respond. I started using gentle exfoliants, peptides, hydrating layers, and sun protection.I learned to layer products properly. I tracked my progress. And slowly, it started to see and feel change.
The dryness softened. The texture smoothed out. The glow returned.
One Reset at a Time
This journey isn't about doing everything at once. It's about choosing one thing to focus on—and sticking with it. That’s what helped me reclaim my health, confidence, and a sense of vitality I thought I had lost forever.
So if you’re in your 40s, 50s or 60s and wondering if it’s too late to start…
It’s not. You can change. You can feel like yourself again. You can glow again.
Just start with one reset.
